Janey began her career as a backing singer for George Michael, Kim Wilde and Boy George. She toured the world as a member of Wham! for 3 years before scoring her own top ten hit with cola boy in 1992 with 7 Ways to Love. She has recorded two albums, ‘Feel so Real’, and ‘Lulu-Land’ both for Realvision Records.
Janey joined Virgin Radio as the traffic reporter on Russ & Jono's Breakfast Show then presented her own shows six days a week for 6 years.
For television, Janey has also produced and presented the weekly 15 minute live Gig Guide for Sky News' Live at Five, previewing the best entertainment around the UK and Europe. She also scripted and presented a short feature on alternative health for ITV's Body & Soul, and has presented Sunday Brunch, a live magazine programme, again for ITV, dealing with topical issues around faith and spirituality, that included live interviews and debates.
Her own faith and affection for gospel music is apparent from the 5 years she spent as producer and presenter of BBC GLR's award winning Gospel Hour, and the two series of Sounds of Gospel which she wrote and presented for the BBC World Service. She also wrote and presented Ministry of Sound, a one hour documentary on the US & UK gospel scenes for BBC Radio 1, followed by a documentary on the popularity of Jesus for Radio 1. It was this expertise that lead to her be interviewed on the BBC's Songs of Praise as a gospel expert. Janey has also presented shows on VH-1.
Her commercial voiceover work has included campaigns for Mastercard, Levi's, Salon Selectives, Nissan, Animal Planet and Johnsons Baby Lotion, as well as lead vocalist in the current worldwide TV campaign for the Egyptian Tourist Board. Janey lives in Hertfordshire, is married to composer Simon, and is a mother of 4 children under 8. Along with her expertise in holistic and green living she is passionate about natural pregnancy and birth, attachment parenting and home education. Janey is patron of the ABM association of breastfeeding mothers and is a supporter of the National Childbirth Trust and several other charities.
