DD is much better, temp down and headache gone and she's plannig cake baking later.

We waited until all 5 hens were asleep and then opened up the dividing door between the 2 pens and lifted the new ones into the old one's hen house - all still asleep. We shut them in to let them settle into deep sleep after disturbing them and I opened the hen house door around 10pm before I went to bed. That meant that they weren't stuck in the hen house in case they decided to fight this morning.

As it is they're fine. A bit of pushing and shoving round the food and water and a bit of posturing but overall they seem ok.

EGGS!!!!!

From the left - large dark brown egg is Cookie's, she's our cuckoo maran, is about a year old and has been laying since before Christmas. Middle one is from our young black rock who is about 18 weeks old, has been here a month and has been laying since the day we got her.

But the one that has me all excited is that white one on the end - my little whitestar, now known as Comet, laid it this morning, her first ever egg and the first white shelled one I've had here.

I'm very pleased.
